The Selection Controls UX Checklist
A weirdly-recurrent theme of good user experience is finding controls to use instead of dropdowns. The Selection Controls Cheatsheet (one of the many cheatsheets and one-pagers in Learn UX Design) makes this process easier by laying out the most-used controls in various categories:
- Single choice, 2 options (e.g. checkboxes)
- Single choice, 3-5 options (e.g. segmented buttons)
- Single choice, many options (e.g. typeahead/autocomplete)
- Multiple choice (e.g. checkbox list)
